Tire Track Eel

The tire track eel (Mastacembelus armatus or Mastacembelus favus) is a sizable, freshwater ray-finned fish that is favored in the aquarium industry. Although it is commonly referred to as an eel, it is, in fact, an elongated fish that belongs to the spiny eel family (Mastacembelidae). Its name originates from the unique, irregular, dark, blotchy pattern located along its back.
